In three hours, our cheerful and well-trained tour guides will show you impressive places and tell you exciting anecdotes. In between, you will stop off at five selected restaurants and enjoy various delicacies.
The tour guide will take you on a special kind of city tour: in an informal atmosphere, we will talk, laugh and eat our way through one of Cologne’s liveliest and most colorful trendy districts for three hours and experience the Südstadt authentically and up close.
We start right in the heart of the district, at Chlodwigplatz, in front of the Severinstorburg. Your guide will start by providing you with appetizing culinary background information on the individual snacks – but of course it’s also all about the beer. After all, brewery culture has a centuries-old tradition here in Südstadt. After these first exciting anecdotes, your stomach is sure to start churning – so let’s move on to the first culinary stop.
From now on, the exciting insider stories about the history and culture of this extraordinary and unique corner of Cologne will alternate with delicious international specialties. It goes all the way to America and back. Many a surprise awaits you – both culinary and historical. This also applies to old-established Cologne residents, even Südstädter! This city tour leaves no stomach hungry and no question unanswered.
You will experience the full range of Südstadt: past colorful second-hand stores, wacky comic stores and Lukas Podolski’s kebab stand. Once we arrive at Severinstor, it’s finally time for a Cologne must: we head to the brewery, including an original Cologne snack.
Afterwards, we continue on our merry way, examining the pros and cons of the latest developments in this district between tradition and modernity, between students and high earners, Cologne old-timers and hip newcomers. What does their Südstadt mean to the people of Cologne? What’s the story behind the wrong side of the Rhine? And what the hell was Giacomo Casanova doing here in the slum church in 1760…?
