Cologne’s old town with its famous breweries
Join us on an unforgettable, authentic tour of Cologne’s old town and its famous breweries, where the residents enjoy their beer, the so-called traditional Kölsch!
This tour is aimed at people looking for interesting information about the city scattered through tastings of three different traditional beers in selected rustic breweries.
We start together in front of Cologne Cathedral, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amaze at its size! We continue to the Old Market to visit the breweries.
Let’s get in touch with the special mentality of the people of Cologne, who are known for their passion for carnival, their open-mindedness and friendliness.
Our tour guide will show you the right drinking patterns and explain more about the city’s special culture. He would also be happy to give you his personal survival tips for Cologne so that you are perfectly prepared for your stay in the city.
We will also take you to popular places such as the “Hennes am Dom” and the “Heinzelmännchenbrunnen” and other interesting historical sites. Cologne is not only full of large breweries, but also of a variety of small kiosks, the so-called “Büdchen”.
The tour will give you, among other things, answers to the following questions:
Why is “Kölsch” much better than “Altbier”?
What does Köbes, Kranz, Pittermännchen and Half Hahn mean?
What is worse than the plague and the Protestants?
How much does the Cologne Cathedral cost?We visit three of the following breweries:
Gaffel am Dom – the oldest monument on the “Old Market” with a rustic atmosphere
Brauhaus FRÜH – the largest brewery in the city
Brauhaus Sion – thanks to Hans Sion, Kölsch is still brewed!
Peters Brauhaus – one of the newest breweries in Cologne
Brauhaus “Sünner im Walfisch” – Sünner is known for Cologne tradition among beer experts.
